Trauma Therapist in Riverside, CA & Online Across California
When the Past Still Feels Present
Trauma isn’t just what happened—it’s how those experiences continue to impact your body, mind, and relationships. If you notice:
Intense emotional reactions that feel out of proportion
Feeling stuck in repeating patterns
Difficulty feeling safe, calm, or grounded
A sense that the past isn’t fully “over”
…trauma therapy can help you process and integrate these experiences safely.
I provide trauma therapy in Riverside, CA, and online across California using evidence-based, trauma-informed modalities including EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
How Trauma Therapy Helps
Trauma therapy is not about forcing you to revisit painful experiences. It’s about helping you:
Feel more grounded and regulated
Understand your responses without judgment
Reduce triggers and emotional reactivity
Experience a greater sense of safety in your body and relationships
Trauma-Informed Modalities I Use to Heal Trauma
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured therapy that helps your brain process difficult experiences so they feel less overwhelming.
Rather than reliving the past, EMDR helps:
Reduce emotional intensity
Shift negative beliefs
Support your brain in “digesting” what’s been stuck
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
IFS is a structured therapy that helps you explore the different “parts” of yourself that hold trauma.
Rather than reliving the past, IFS helps:
Identify and understand the parts of yourself that carry fear, shame, or pain
Nurture and restore internal balance
Heal old wounds through self-compassion and internal dialogue
Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM)
CRM is a structured, somatic-based therapy that helps your nervous system process trauma safely.
Rather than reliving the past, CRM helps:
Strengthen internal resources to feel more grounded
Safely process traumatic memories without re-traumatization
Support your nervous system in integrating difficult experiences
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
EFT is a structured therapy that helps you build emotional awareness and connection in relationships affected by trauma.
Rather than reliving the past, EFT helps:
Improve emotional awareness and expression
Strengthen secure attachment and connection
Transform relational patterns that maintain stress or anxiety
FAQs About Trauma Therapy
-
No. Therapy moves at your pace, and you’re always in control of what you share. You can share as much or as little as you’d like. Much of trauma processing is an internal experience and does not have to be verbalized to the therapist.
-
EMDR is structured to be manageable and supportive. We focus on safety and pacing throughout the process. You always have control and are in the driver’s seat at all times and can apply the brakes whenever you need.
-
Trauma isn’t defined by how something looks from the outside—it’s about how it impacted you. If something still feels unresolved, overwhelming, or continues to affect how you think, feel, or respond, it’s worth exploring in therapy.
-
No. Trauma therapy is not about forcing you to relive the past. The focus is on helping you process experiences in a way that feels safe, supported, and manageable. You’re always in control of the pace and what you choose to share.
-
You don’t need to know that ahead of time. During a consultation or early sessions, we can talk through what you’re experiencing and determine whether trauma-focused therapy or EMDR would be a good fit for your needs and goals.
